Following the School Buildings Register compiled by the Ministry of Education and Research under article 7 of Law no. 23 of 11 January 1996, in 2009 – thirteen years after the law was passed – specific “Building Questionnaires” were completed through the Interregional Public Works Office for Campania and Molise. They identified the vulnerability of non-structural elements and building services, in order to determine the risks for occupants. The site inspections, mainly visual, revealed signs related to the state of preservation of the building and its services, and by CIPE resolution of 6 March 2009 the Municipality of Pontecagnano Faiano was granted funding of €487,000. Structurally, the works consist only of strengthening certain structural elements, designed in accordance with section 8.3 of the Italian Building Code (NTC) annexed to the Ministerial Decree of 14 January 2008 and section C8.4.3 of Circular no. 617 of 2 February 2009
